Clayton – William Gene “Bill” Smart, age 80, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born March 12, 1937 in Allegheny County, PA he was a son of the late William Henry and Jean Herzog Smart. He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Pope; and nephew, Michael Pope. Bill was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Smithfield.-
A memorial service will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Jim Melnyk officiating.
Surviving are his brother, Rev. John A. Smart of Tuscan, AZ; aunt, Georgette Jakomas; nephews, Dan Pope, Chuck Pope, Tom Pope, and John Smart; nieces, Mary Hancock, Susan Leer, and Jean Smart; many great nieces and nephews; loving canine companion, Oscar; and good friend, Gerald Lee of Clayton.
