Wilma Gray Creech

    Birth Date: 08/09/1942
    Deceased Date: 07/03/2020

Wilma Gray Creech, “Sunshine” by nickname, was born on August 9th, 1942 and died on July 3rd, 2020.

Her parents were Willie and Esther Worlds. She lived 78 years and out of those years, she lived 76 full steam, she battled cancer for the last year and a half of her life.

Wilma loved her family and Arthur Crocker whom she lived with for over 30 years. She was a dancer, singer, JC Penny model, home decorator, thrift store investor, foster mother and crafter. In her passion for flowers and decorating she kept a one of a kind garden with decorations like bathtubs and old farm equipment. Having a green thumb placed her in the Princeton Newspaper with hollyhocks over 8 ft. tall. “Sunshine” was spoken of as one of the best dancers in her area during the 70’s and 80’s.

Known for her wild choices, clothing style, and her headstrong attitude, she was a special person! Wilma felt moved to help those in need; having the understanding of hardship being raised on a farm. There were many times she prepared food for those in need. At times, even allowing some to stay in her home while she nursed them back to strength.

She never knew a stranger, and within minutes, she could have someones’ phone number or willingness to help on one of her decorating projects. Hard to forget, she left a lasting impression, no matter where she went! She will be missed.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2020 in First Church, 736 Carolina Dr. Dunn, NC 28334.

Wilma is survived by her children, Ricky(Mary) Creech, Donnie(Cindy) Creech, Bobby(Tonya) Creech, Joy (Berry) Jones, Karen (Jason) Guseman, and Will (Maria) Smith; companion of over 30 years, Arthur Crocker; siblings, William Worlds and Francis Young; grandchildren, Rodney, Nikki, Dalton, Jason, Mary, Jared, Avery, Alysa, Ayden, and Nathaniel; great grandchild, Carter; and nieces, Janet, Sherrie and Robin.
