Worth Jethro Worley

    Princeton – Worth Jethro Worley, age 86, died Monday, December 4, 2017 in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Born on May 25, 1931 in Johnston County he was a son of the late Herman and Catherine Woodard Worley. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeth Worley; and sisters, Helen Harper, Geraldine Starling, and Ann Hall. Worth was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Mount Olive.

    After putting his faith and trust in Jesus Christ on October 5, 1958, Worth had a burning passion to introduce others to his Savior. As a result, he surrendered his life to serve as a missionary with the Baptist Bible Fellowship in South Korea (1967-1983); in Singapore (1983-1996) and in Russia (1996-2007). Even after his retirement, Worth continued to faithfully serve his Savior by telling everyone met about the Lord Jesus Christ.

    Funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Unity Baptist Church in Mount Olive. The family will receive friends following the service. A private family burial will be held on Sunday at Grace Baptist Church Cemetery.

    Surviving are his wife, Hazel Worley of Princeton; daughters, Ginger Crocker and husband Ray, missionaries to Singapore, Joy Speights and husband David, missionaries to Thailand, and Julie Huckaby and husband Vardaman of Princeton; brothers, Eugene Worley and wife Glenda of Smithfield, Doug Worley and wife Helen, missionaries to the Philippines, and Johnny Worley and wife Betty of West Jefferson; sisters, Doris Pollard of Newport News, VA and Kathlene Capps of Smithfield; fourteen grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

    In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Missions Fund of Unity Baptist Church in Mount Olive.
