Zealy Andrew Jones, Sr was born in Goldsboro, NC on December 15, 1950. He passed away at home and went to be with his Lord on August 18, 2021.
Zealy is a 1970 Goldsboro HS graduate and a graduate of East Carolina University with a degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Psychology. He continued his education at Florida State University. Zealy served in the US Air Force from 1971-1977, serving most of that time stationed in Ramstein, Germany. He retired from the Tallahassee Police Department in 2011 after 27 years of service in law enforcement. He retired to the Great Smoky Mountains where he enjoyed the gorgeous views, spending time with family and taking care of his farm animals.
Zealy is survived by his wife of 19 years, Nancy Jones, brother Raymond L. Jones, Jr (Gail), son Zealy A. Jones, Jr (Torre), daughter Audra J. Smith (Jonathan), son Zachary A. Jones and their mother, Kathy Richardson (Alan). He is also survived by stepsons TSgt Sean Hilliard (Yuri), Josh Hilliard and Daniel Hilliard, as well as his grandchildren, Jenna Smith, Jessica Smith, Johnny Smith, Kendall Jones and Hana Hilliard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace E. Newsome and Raymond L. Jones, Sr.
A private ceremony will be held in the Fall for family and friends in Cades Cove (Townsend, TN), where he wished to have his cremains cast.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Friends of the Smokies or St. Jude’s.
