Authorities are investigating reports that objects were thrown at seven vehicles traveling through Wayne County.
All the incidents occurred on Highway 111 South between Dollardtown Road and Indian Springs Road, south of Goldsboro.
Today (Tuesday) around 2:50am, a tractor trailer driver said an object was thrown at his truck, shattering his windshield and knocking out the driver’s side window. He was injured and was transported to the hospital with cuts to his face and glass in his eyes. His injuries were not life threatening. The suspect vehicle was described as a dark-color passenger car.
Last Thursday, Oct. 26th between 11:00pm and 11:30pm, three drivers were attacked. One victim reported she saw a red car swerving in the opposite lane and believes the occupants threw something at her car. The two other victims observed a white pickup truck with loud exhaust throw something at their cars.
On Wednesday, Oct. 25th between 12:30am and 1:30am, three vehicles were struck with objects including one car that was struck twice. The victim reported seeing a white passenger car followed by a pickup truck both times her vehicle was struck.
In all 7 of the cases, the objects were thrown from moving vehicles onto other moving vehicles.
