October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). JCI is celebrating by paying tribute to the accomplishments of the men and women with disabilities whose work helps keep the nation’s economy healthy and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring equal opportunity for all citizens.
One such woman is Morgan. Morgan works as a Salad Bar Attendant at Golden Corral in Smithfield. She has worked there for eight years keeping the bar clean and the items stocked.
Morgan has participated in employment programs at JCI for several years. JCI provided job search assistance, job coaching, and interviewing skills. Pamela Street, JCI LTVS Employment Specialist, checks in with her monthly to ensure she continues to succeed.
When asked what Morgan likes about her job, she said, “I like being around other people and working with my coworkers. I also like being able to learn new things. My Supervisor, Dana, is great to work with because she is understanding and fair.”
Morgan’s supervisor Dana Soriano said, “Morgan is a delight to work with, and she brings variety to our team. We appreciate JCI; they make it easier to find employees who are dedicated, supported, and who give it their all.”
James Godwin, Assistant Manager stated, “Morgan is a joy to work with, she is willing to do any task we ask of her, and we appreciate her hard work.”
JCI would like to thank Golden Corral and those who have employed the people we serve. The community’s tremendous support has facilitated placing these people into meaningful jobs that have brought them great success and sustainability.
