Officer Joseph Young Joins Police Force

SMITHFIELD – Officer Joseph Robert Young was officially sworn in to the Smithfield Police Department during the January 3, 2023 meeting of the Smithfield Town Council. Mayor Andy Moore administered the Oath.

Mr. Young was born in Silver Spring, Maryland and grew up in Wake County near Fuquay Varina.

Officer Young was hired to fill an existing vacancy on the police force. He previously worked for three years with Wilson Police and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.

Joining him for the Oath was his wife and son.

“I look forward to serving the citizens of Smithfield, a community that my family has been a part of since 2017,” Officer Young told The Johnston County Report.
