Two Smithfield police officers received their Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate during the monthly meeting of the Smithfield Town Council.
Patrol Officer Rickey Parker and Master Patrol Officer Joey Wheeler received their Certificates during a presentation Jan. 2nd from Mayor Andy Moore.
Officer Parker has been with the department over 4 years and is currently a School Resource Officer at Johnston Community College. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Religious Studies from San Jose State. Before joining the Smithfield Police Department, Parker worked with the Raleigh Police Department.
Officer Wheeler has been with the agency 8 years and is currently in the Support Services Division. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice Studies from Mount Olive College.
A total of 17 Smithfield police officers now have their Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate.
