SAMPSON COUNTY – One person died and three others were injured in a shooting Tuesday afternoon in Sampson County. Around 1:39pm, the Sampson County E-911 Center received a call reporting four gunshot victims had arrived at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton. All four victims were transported to the hospital by privately owned vehicles.
One of the victims died at the hospital. The other three are being treated for their wounds. Their conditions have not been released. Authorities said they are all adult males.
A preliminary investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from an altercation on Boykin Road near Shaun Lane.
The hospital was temporarily placed on lockdown based on the nature of the incident.
The names of the deceased and injured are currently being withheld by law enforcement pending family notifications.
