One Person Dead In Benson Shooting

BENSON – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left one person dead. It happened around 6:45pm today (Friday) in the 2400 block of NC 242 North.

Deputies located a man inside the residence who had been shot. EMS arrived and pronounced the victim deceased.

A person of interest was taken into custody at the scene.

Officers said there is no threat to the community and no additional persons are being sought.
