The Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal three car accident Monday night near Garner. It happened at 6:30pm on White Oak Road near I-40.
A vehicle driven by 79 year-old Henry Munday of Garner was traveling north on White Oak Road when he traveled left of center and sideswiped a car traveling south on White Oak Road. That vehicle was operated by Philip Lawler, 54, of Garner. After sideswiping Lawler’s vehicle, Munday then struck a third vehicle head-on. As a result of the collision, the driver of the third vehicle died at the scene. The victim was identified as Christopher Wright, 31, of Garner.
Munday was taken to Wake Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Lawler was not injured.
Lt. Jeff Gordon, Public Information Officer for the NC Highway Patrol said Tuesday that alcohol did not appear to be a factor. Charges are pending.
