Johnston County Public Schools held its annual Outstanding First Year Teacher of the Year Banquet on April 27th at Sysco in Selma. Twenty-eight first-year teachers throughout the district were recognized for their outstanding performance in the classroom.
Daryl Jones, a ninth grade environmental science and biology teacher from Corinth Holders High School, was named the JCPS Outstanding First Year Teacher. Jones received a plaque and a $500 check sponsored by Alison Hudson with Horace Mann Insurance Company.
“Mr. Jones has a great rapport with his students, always providing them the support needed to be successful,” said Chase Ferrell, Corinth Holders High School Principal. “He steps up as a leader. He is innovative, organized, and goal oriented, seeking to make a difference in the lives of students and other teachers.”
Accompanying Jones, as finalists, were Cooper Elementary’s Sara Wolfe and Riverwood Middle’s Nicole Iorio. Iorio and Wolfe each received plaques and $250 from the Johnston County Education Foundation.
