Overnight Lane Closures On I-95

Bridge inspections along a stretch of I-95 will require overnight lane closures between 10 p.m. this Sunday, April 10, and 7 a.m. on Sunday, April 23. Six bridges will be inspected along a stretch between south of N.C. 42 and N.C. 97 (between mile markers 114.5 and 127) in Wilson County, with the closures taking place in the area of each bridge as it undergoes its inspection.

To lessen the impact for travelers, no lane closures are allowed Monday through Thursday between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., and Friday through Sunday between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.

Drivers are urged to watch for construction signs and slow down in the area.

Road, bridge, and other transportation improvement projects like this one are currently underway across the state as part of Governor McCrory’s 25-Year Transportation Vision to enhance travel safety and to better connect North Carolinians to jobs, education, healthcare and recreation opportunities.

New transportation projects in the state’s current 10-year plan are funded through the Strategic Mobility Formula a new way of more efficiently investing transportation dollars by using a data-driven scoring process along with local input to fund more projects and create more jobs. The new mobility formula was passed into law in 2013.
