A man who had failed to report to his probation officer and could not be found was captured in Benson early-Friday morning.
Around 4:00am, Benson Police and the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance in a parking lot in the 600 block of East Main Street. Officers located a man still on the scene. He reportedly gave police a fictitious name but was eventually identified as 28 year-old Michael Jerome Blue of East Divine Street, Dunn who was wanted by the NC Department of Corrections.
A DOC spokesperson said Blue was released onto post-release supervision in September 2016 after serving time for selling drugs, DWI and breaking and entering vehicles. However he did not report to his supervising probation officer, a requirement of his release.
While attempting to place Blue in handcuffs he fled. Following a brief foot chase, Blue was apprehended without further incident or injury.
Blue was arrested for felony parole violation, giving fictitious information to an officer and two counts of resisting a public officer. He was transported to the Johnston County Jail where he was held without bond on the parole warrant. Bail was set at $12,500 on the additional charges.
The NC Department of Corrections Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission will determine the response to his parole violation.
