Partnership For Children Celebrates Family Support Awareness Month

SMITHFIELD – The Johnston County Board of Commissioners has proclaimed February as Family Support Awareness Month.

Allison Boyd, a devoted parent leader for the Partnership for Children of Johnston County, presented the proclamation. This initiative emphasizes the vital role of parenting education programs in empowering caregivers as they raise their children.

Caregivers often begin the lifelong responsibility of raising a child feeling unprepared. The Partnership for Children serves as a vital community resource, supporting caregivers on their parenting journey by offering free services, including parenting education. These programs help caregivers meet the unique needs of their children, promote healthy development, strengthen family relationships, and reduce the risk of abuse and neglect.

Mrs. Boyd shared her inspiring journey, recalling her first visit to the Partnership ten years ago in search of parenting support. She calls herself “one example of the impact of their work,” emphasizing how the Partnership has fostered her growth as a mother and leader.

This proactive approach saves up to $5.70 for every $1 invested through increased educational attainment, higher earnings, reduced crime, and better health outcomes. However, no organization or family can do it on their own. It takes a community approach to strengthen local families.

The Partnership for Children of Johnston County is a non-profit organization. For over 25 years, the Partnership has worked to improve the safety, health, and emotional well-being of young children by enhancing the quality of childcare and supporting strong families. The Partnership works collaboratively to improve the quality of early childhood education and school readiness for all of Johnston County’s children.
