Passenger Dies In Four Oaks Crash

A single car crash in southern Johnston County Saturday morning seriously injured the driver and claimed the life of a passenger in the vehicle.

The accident was reported around 9:30am on Devil’s Racetrack Road outside of Four Oaks.

A white Acura SUV being driven by Robert Farmer was traveling northbound at an estimated 70mph when it ran off the rural roadway, struck a ditch bank and rolled over into a pine tree. The impact was so violent it snapped the top out of the tree.

A passenger, Kameron Stancil, died at the scene. Farmer was pinned in the wreckage and had to be cut free by crews from the Strickland’s Crossroads and Bentonville Fire Departments.

Duke Life Flight landed near the scene. The Life Flight team assisted Johnston County EMS paramedics treating Farmer until he could be freed from the wreckage then airlifted.

After consulting with the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office the NC Highway Patrol announced on Sunday that no charges would be filed. Photos courtesy John Payne
