BENSON – A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak passenger train this morning (Wednesday). The accident was reported at 1:51am at the East Parrish Drive crossing in the Benson city limits.
Police Chief Greg Percy said responding officers located a male victim deceased next to the tracks. The victim has been identified however his name is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.
The investigation is still ongoing but there is no evidence of foul play. The scene was cleared around 4:00am and the tracks were reopened.
