A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train near Kenly.
The accident was reported around 6:00pm Saturday next to Lefty Road, just north of Kenly in Wilson County.
The Amtrak Carolinian with 135 passengers on board was delayed about two hours while the incident was investigated by Amtrak Police and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office. The name of the victim has not been released. The Kenly Fire Department also responded to the scene. Photo by John Payne
