The NC Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of a hit and run vehicle wanted following a deadly accident Saturday night between Dunn and Benson.
The collision was reported at 9:33pm near the intersection of Ira B. Tart Road and Jada Alan Lane about 5 miles from Dunn near the Johnston-Harnett County line.
Sgt. Michael Baker said the driver of a silver or gray Ford Mustang with a black pin stripe was traveling on Ira B Tart Road when it struck a pedestrian walking in the roadway. The vehicle failed to stop at the scene.
The pedestrian, 39 year-old Brian Keith Graham of Rockingham, NC died at the scene.
Officials said Graham was walking south in the southbound lane and was struck from behind by the Mustang. Graham was wearing dark clothing and authorities said the two lane road was dark at the time of the accident.
