WILSON’S MILLS – A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday night in Wilson’s Mills. The accident happened around 11:00pm in the eastbound lanes of Highway 70 near Wilson’s Mills Road and the Handy Mart convenience store.
Police Chief A.Z. Williams said the pedestrian was fatally struck by a Ford pickup truck. Neither the driver nor passenger were injured in the crash.
Eastbound lanes of Highway 70 were closed for several hours while the crash was investigated.
The pedestrian has not been identified. Chief Williams said the victim was a black female wearing dark clothing with multiple tattoos on her chest and arms. Her body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Wilson’s Mills Police Department investigated the incident with the assistance of the NC Highway Patrol, Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and the Wilson’s Mills Fire Department.
