Pedestrian Struck And Killed By Train

A pedestrian walking on the railroad tracks in Selma was struck and killed by a freight train.

It happened Sunday night near the Ricks Road rail crossing which was temporarily closed to vehicular traffic due to road construction.

A male was walking south on the tracks and did not move for a southbound CSX train. The engineer reported the incident.

Selma Police, the Selma Fire Department, and Johnston County EMS responded and located the body.

Police Chief Billy Thomas told JoCoReport.com on Monday the name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.
