SMITHFIELD – A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a car in the parking lot of Dunkin’ Donuts at 1006 N. Brightleaf Boulevard. Police, Fire and EMS responded to the accident at 9:24am Monday.
Police said a Pikeville man was walking to his car as a 2016 Jeep SUV was attempting to drive through the parking lot. Both the driver and pedestrian said a large truck was parked along the curb blocking their view.
The pedestrian stepped from the curb into the parking lot and was struck by the front of the Jeep. He sustained minor injuries.
No charges were filed.
Not saying this is what happened here, but I’ve noticed that people will walk though a parking lot totally oblivious to the vehicles moving around them & walk right out in front of moving vehicles without looking.
