Permits Jump For New Single Family Homes

Permits for new single family homes in Johnston County jumped 26 percent in March compared to housing numbers for the same month in 2017.

Last month, 193 permits were issued to builders in the county for new single family homes, a sharp increase from 153 permits issued in March 2017.   The average value of a new home construction permit last month was $181,108 up from $172,136 a year earlier.

Last month, 6 permits were issued for modular homes, double from a year before.  A total of 20 permits were issued for singlewide and doublewide homes, down slightly from 23 in March 2017.

The Johnston County Inspections Department approved 607 total permits last month valued at $55,299,562 up from $38,446,876 in March 2017.

Inspectors passed 4,200 inspections and failed 794.
