Permits Up For New Single Family Homes

Construction of new homes in Johnston County continues at a feverish pace.

In February, permits were issued for 134 new single family homes. That’s up 16 percent from 116 permits in February 2016.

The average value of a new single family home last month was $182,100.

According to statistics from the Johnston County Inspections Department, manufactured housing numbers were down slightly.  Two doublewide and six singlewide permits were issued last month compared to five doublewide and seven singlewide set up permits in Feb. 2016.

Permits were issued last month for 14 commercial buildings, up from 9 a year ago the same month.

The Inspections Department collected $202,093.10 in fees in February.

A total of 3,873 inspections passed and 972 failed.
