Person Of Interest In Baby Remains Case Questioned

Smithfield Police say they have located and spoken with a person of interest in connection with the remains of two infants found under a West Smithfield home last weekend.

Bridgette Morgan Smith, 40, was named a person of interest on Wednesday, four days after the human remains were found in two trash bags in the crawlspace of a home on Hartley Drive.  The home was being leased by Smith’s mother.

Police Captain R.K. Powell said the investigation is still ongoing and that additional information would be released to the public when possible.

Anyone who has any information that could help with the case is asked contact Detective Sgt. R.D. Wood at 919-989-1069 or the Smithfield Police Tip Line at 919-989-8835.
