Person Shot At Smithfield Home

SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police are investigating a shooting. The incident was reported around 12 noon Thursday (today) at 111 Whitley Drive, in West Smithfield.

Police Chief Pete Hedrick said a female was shot at the location and transported by Johnston County EMS to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Chief Hedrick said the suspect was known to the victim and there is no danger to the public.

Police are actively searching for the suspect who fled from the scene in a vehicle.

  1. Wonder if this had anything to do with a lockdown (heavy Sheriff presence)at Neuse Charter during the same time… SSS (across from the street from Neuse)and Smithfield Middle were not locked down…

    • Yes it did. The woman’s son goes to Neuse Charter. They were making sure he did not go and pick her son up at school.
