Pet Dies In Smithfield House Fire

A Smithfield area home was heavily damaged by flames late Tuesday.

Fire heavily damaged the single story home in the 1400 block of Crantock Road off Cleveland Road.  The homeowner was able to escape uninjured but one pet was found dead inside.

Officials believe it began in the laundry room area.

The Wilson’s Mills, Smithfield and Cleveland Fire Departments responded to extinguish the house fire. The NC Highway Patrol shutdown a section of Crantock Road and helped direct traffic until the scene was cleared. Photos by JoCoFire.com
