Photo Of Suspect Vehicle Released In Rash Of Convenience Store Break-Ins

Ten break-ins reported in Johnston County

Early Friday morning, the 10th Johnston County convenience store was broken into.  Authorities believe all ten break-ins, committed since Nov. 11th, may be connected.

At 1:17am Friday, Smithfield Police responded to a burglar alarm at the GT Mart at 214 Wilson’s Mills Road.  Police arrived and discovered the front door had been shattered and cigarettes, cigars and a safe had been stolen.

Smithfield Police believe the break-in could be connected to nine others being investigated.

They include burglaries in the past nine days at Myers Community Mart at 4321 US Highway 70 E, Smithfield; Barefoot’s Country Store at 3295 US 701 South, Four Oaks; Mac’s General Merchandise at 4432 Hwy 242 South, Dunn; Deans Gas & grocery at 13569 NC 39 Highway, Zebulon; Brewer’s Grill & Grocery at 11413 NC 42 East, Middlesex; Blackmon’s Crossroads Country Store at 5989 Strickland’s Crossroads Road, Four Oaks; Pine Level Food Mart at 1880 US 70-A; Princeton Food Mart on Dr. Donnie H Jones Boulevard; and The Marathon – Grill on the Hill at 3405 NC 242 North, Benson.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has released a photo of a black Dodge Charger the suspects arrive in.  The vehicle has been captured on security cameras at several of the convenience store break-ins.
