Dylan Pinder, a junior at North Johnston High School, won his 9th state championship over-the-weekend at the NC High School Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Dylan won the 55 meter wheelchair event, his third consecutive year winning the event. He also is the state record holder in the event. He finished second in the wheelchair shot put event for the third year.
Dylan, who was born with spina bifida, has always been confined to a wheelchair for mobility. However, his condition has never gotten him down, according to his father, John Pinder. “Dylan has the heart of a lion and the attitude to overcome every obstacle he comes across. Dylan always says before every race I can do this. As you can see he always finds a way to get it done.”
Dylan is the son of John Pinder of Pine Level and Tina Pinder of Kenly. He has a sister, Mikalah, and a brother, Colby. Contributed photos
