The Greater Cleveland Chamber of Commerce has named Katie Owens, a teacher at Polenta Elementary, as the SUPER STAR Teacher for the month for May. SUPER STAR teachers demonstrate excellence and leadership in their classroom, creativity and motivation of their students and show a high level of commitment to our community.
According to her nomination, Ms. Owens is the CEO of her classroom. She runs an outstanding, engaging and high achieving classroom that is full of challenges for her students. Regardless of where students are at the beginning of school, by the end of the year, they are reaching their goals. By using individual interest and creative lessons, Owens motivates students and captures their attention. She has an open classroom and loves to have other teachers observe and parents visit. Ms. Owens is very active at Polenta; she volunteers at school outreach events and promotes Polenta throughout the community.
