Police Charge Women’s Jeans Thief

Clayton Police have identified and charged a man who stole jeans from a women’s clothing store a few weeks ago.

On June 25th, a man collected about 25 pairs of women’s blue jeans and ran out of Maurices at 933 Towne Center Blvd. in Clayton. That’s located in the Wal-Mart-anchored Clayton Town Center shopping complex.

During the investigation, Clayton Police learned the same suspect had committed a string of similar thefts in other areas, including later that same day at the Aeropostale outlet store in Smithfield.

In coordination with other law enforcement agencies, Clayton Police identified the thief as Donald Crawford Hunt, 26, of Evergreen Church Road in Pembroke, NC.

Hunt was already in custody at the Richmond County Detention Center in Rockingham, where he already faces a variety of charges from Robeson, Scotland, Richmond and Moore counties.

Clayton Police added one count of felony larceny to the list of charges against Hunt.
