KENLY – Kenly Police discovered a body while investigating the disappearance of a 50 year-old woman. Police aren’t saying if the cases are connected.
Christel Page McGowan was last seen Wednesday, July 5 at her residence in the Kenly city limits. McGowan is a white female, 5 foot 8, 145 pounds, with sandy hair and hazel eyes. She is believed to have been operating a silver 2008 Ford Explorer Sport Trac when she disappeared.
Sunday morning, Kenly Police Chief James Ayers said officers discovered a deceased body. The location where the body was discovered is not being disclosed.
Chief Ayers said the body has not been positively identified. He said the investigation remains active and to ensure the integrity of the case, no additional information is being disclosed at this time.
“We are committed to providing updates to the public once the investigation has been concluded and deemed appropriate for disclosure,” Chief Ayers told The Johnston County Report.
The NC State Bureau of Investigation is assisting Kenly Police with the investigation.
