Selma Police have released the identity of a man struck and killed by a freight train.
Police said 54 year-old John McDonald of Selma was walking southbound on the train tracks near the Ricks Road rail crossing on Sunday night when he was struck by a southbound CSX train.
The engineer stopped the train and notified emergency personnel.
First responders found McDonald’s body a short time later.
Police Detective Sgt. J.A. Hughes said McDonald was not far from his home when he was struck.
