Police Identify Selma Homicide Victim

SELMA – Selma Police continue to investigate a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a Four Oaks man. Authorities say it happened at 6:18pm Friday in the front yard of a home at 713 S. Raiford Street, near the intersection of Jones Avenue.

A witness reported the victim and suspect were arguing before possibly fighting. That’s when shots were fired, claiming the life of Carlos Chrisp, age 37, of Four Oaks.

The suspect, Decarrius Tinsley, age 35, of Selma was arrested Friday night and charged with first degree murder. Police said Tinsley has refused to speak with them and answer any questions.

On Monday, Tinsley made his first appearance in court on the first degree murder charge. He is being held without bond.

Selma Police Detective J. Vause said the victim and suspect knew one another. A motive for the fatal shooting remains under investigation.
