Police Investigating Overnight Shooting In Selma

SELMA – Police are investigating an overnight shooting in Selma. Around 9:45pm Thursday, police were dispatched to a report of shots being fired in the Redwood Village area.

Police said a male victim had been shot in the back. The victim was rushed by ambulance to WakeMed with serious injuries. Police Chief Billy Thomas said the injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

A vehicle with a shattered rear window was spotted being towed away from the scene. Police would not say how the vehicle may have been connected to the shooting.

Chief Thomas confirmed Friday that detectives are following up on several leads in the case. Anyone who may have information to help Selma Police can call 919-965-8189. No additional details were released.
