CLAYTON – Clayton Police are investigating a fatal shooting. Around 5:30pm today (Monday), a shooting occurred off the greenway near the intersection of Covered Bridge Road and Loop Road.
Police detectives were attempting to locate Justin Patrick Andrews, 41, of Clayton who was wanted by Clayton Police for several felony warrants related to domestic violence. Andrews’ vehicle had been located earlier in the day in the parking lot of the Clayton River Walk.
Officers said they located Andrews near the intersection and confronted him. Andrews produced a handgun, and investigators attempted to get him to drop the weapon. Andrews then turned the gun on himself in front of police officers. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Covered Bridge Road was shut down for a period of time as crime scene investigators processed the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
