The Clayton Police Department has made an arrest in a sexual assault case involving two young girls which spanned 5 years and two states.
Clayton Police Detectives, with the help of Arkansas State Police, arrested 24-year-old Aaron Benjamin Hawn in Kensett, Arkansas on Tuesday.
He is charged with three counts of sexual offense with a child, 5 counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.
Both victims were under the age of 13. Hawn was not related to the two girls, but knew their family members. The incidents happened between 2012 and 2013 in two different Clayton homes where he was living at the time.
Officials said the two victims came forward in 2015 and 2016 to report the crimes despite the families moved and the accused also moving out of state as well.
Clayton Police worked with the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office, NC State Bureau of Investigation and Arkansas State Police before filing charges against Hawn.
Hawn was living in Kensett, Arkansas at the time of his arrest. He is being held in the White County, Arkansas Law Enforcement Center on no bond and will be extradited back to Johnson County to stand trial.
