Police Officer Receives Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate

A Smithfield police officer was recognized by the Town Council and Mayor during their monthly meeting on Jan. 10th.  Lieutenant Brian “O.B.” O’Branovich recently received his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Education Training and Standards Commission. The certification required 1,200 hours of continuing education.

Lt. O’Branovich joins 14 other members of the Smithfield Police Department that have received the advanced certification.  He has been with the department for 12 years.

During his career, O’Branovich has worked as a patrol officer, field training officer, housing authority and is currently in a supervisory role as Lieutenant for a patrol division.
