Police Searching For 18 Wheeler That Struck Pedestrian

SELMA – Police are looking for a tractor trailer involved in a serious hit and run accident Thursday night along US Highway 301 (Pollock Street).   The accident was reported at 9:42pm in front of the Brotherhood Market.

According to Selma Police, Jobani Rosario-Andeliza, 34, of Smithfield was walking across Highway 301 when he was struck by the eighteen wheeler. 

Witnesses reported that Rosario-Andeliza was attempting to cross the roadway when the southbound semi struck him in the travel lane.  The truck driver stopped briefly then fled the area before first responders arrived.

The semi had a red cab and was pulling a flatbed trailer hauling a large red vehicle possibly a dump truck. 

The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
