Smithfield Police are investigating a reported robbery that sent the victim to the hospital. Around 11:20am Friday, March 22nd, a 21 year-old woman said she was at a home in the 900 block of Blount Street when she was assaulted and robbed. During the robbery her Apple iPhone valued at $1,000 was stolen.
Police Captain R. Sheppard said the victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield for treatment. Police said the robbery was not random and the victim and suspect knew one another.
The suspect fled before police arrived.
