Police Seize Fake Apple Devices, Three Charged

SMITHFIELD — Three out-of-state residents were arrested Sunday afternoon after police officers reportedly discovered counterfeit Apple products being offered for sale at Brightleaf Flea Market.
According to authorities, an officer working security at the flea market on South Brightleaf Boulevard observed individuals attempting to sell electronics from a vehicle parked on the property. The individuals were not registered vendors at the market.
Smithfield Police reported finding two counterfeit iPhones, six counterfeit Apple watches, and three sets of counterfeit AirPods in the possession of the suspects. Investigators determined the items were imitation products bearing Apple trademarks and logos. Authorities estimated the electronics would have carried a combined retail value of approximately $6,000 had they been legitimate.
The suspects were identified as Susan Miclesu, 20, of Everett, Washington; Dunareanca Miclescue, 34, of Baltimore, Maryland; and Alina Savina, 19, of Newark, New Jersey. All three were charged with felony counterfeit trademark violations.
The counterfeit merchandise was seized by police. Each suspect posted a $30,000 secured bond and was released from custody pending future court appearances in Johnston County.
