WILSON’S MILLS – A Wilson’s Mills resident with prior traffic offenses landed in jail Monday night. Erick Rosas, age 22, of Powhatan Road, is facing numerous charges.
Around 10:30pm, a Wilson’s Mills police officer was conducting stationary speed enforcement on Highway 70 East near Sadisco Road. A Dodge Charger Scat Pack approached the officer eastbound on Highway 70 at 111 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone, which was confirmed on radar.
The officer pursued the Charger as the suspect increased speeds, and began weaving between other vehicles in a reckless manner.
Police said Rosas turned west on Wilson’s Mills Road, turned off the headlights, then turned north on Fire Department Road. The vehicle began to slow just before Harrison Road and finally stopped on Harrison Road at the intersection with Fire Department Road.
A high-risk vehicle stop was conducted and Rosas was placed under arrest, not far from his home address.
Wilson’s Mills Police said a concealed Glock handgun was located in the vehicle.
Rosas was charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest, carrying concealed gun, speeding 111 mph in a 70 mph zone, reckless driving, and driving on a revoked license. He was also served with an outstanding arrest warrant from Durham County charging him with misdemeanor fleeing to elude, reckless driving, and driving on a revoked license.
On May 4, 2023, a state trooper in Johnston County cited Erick Rosas for speeding 84 mph in a 55 mph zone, reckless driving, and driving on a revoked license while on US 70 near Bear Farm Road in Wilson’s Mills. Those charges are pending in court.
Rosas received a $25,000 secured bond on the Wilson’s Mills Police charges and an additional $1,500 bond on the Durham charges.
The Dodge Charger was seized under the NC Run and Done law.
Scat has more than one meaning. In the case of these cars, I think the biological meaning is correct.
He is a punk and always will be with no future. He does not care who he kills in his quest for an adrenalin rush. This punk is a looser and needs to serve life. By By Rosas. The sad part about it you have had so many chances. Good job to the Wilson Mills Police for getting this trash off the streets.
That Johnston County education really paid off for you. Didn’t it Steve?
It was a NY education and whoops I got a typo. Off with my head. J, I think you’re the shmuck!
Wilsons mills pd should be allowed to keep his car and use It as a police car.
He drives better than any of you. That is why he was driving faster. By the way he goes by Tolodo (his middle name).
Doesn’t matter how good you can drive, if you can’t follow the laws of the road!
You are a clown for defending him. WHO CARES how great of a driver he is. All it takes is one mistake and he could end someone’s life. All because he wants to be cool driving a POS Dodge Charger?!?!?! LOL
