A former employee at Walmart in Smithfield has been arrested for allegedly stealing items numerous times within the past month.
Smithfield Police said they were called to Walmart to investigate reports an employee, 37 year-old Shannon Marie Lightner of Selma, had reportedly stolen clothes, food, and household items from the store over the course of several weeks. Combined the items were valued at $568.29.
Police Captain R. Sheppard said the thefts were captured on store security cameras.
Lightner was arrested Sunday and charged with felonious larceny by an employee. She was transported to the Johnston County Jail where her bond was set at $5,000.
