The Clayton Chamber of Commerce has named Susan Marler, a teacher at Powhatan Elementary as their Super Star Teacher for the month of May. Super Star teachers show excellence in their classrooms, inspire their students, and demonstrate community involvement and leadership.
According to the Chamber, Marler strives daily to grow her student’s understanding of music. She works with all grade levels to create and present concerts, plays and other performances to the school and the community. Ms Marler also works with the PTA to organize Cultural Arts assemblies for Powhatan Elementary.
She is a member of the school improvement team and assists with PERK days to encourage positive behavior for students. Ms Marler encourages her students to participate in the Showcase of Stars, the county wide chorus and holiday concerts.
