Princeton Hires New Town Administrator

PRINCETON – Michael King has been hired as the new Town Administrator for the Town of Princeton. Mr. King began work today (Thursday, May 26) in his new position. He will replace Marla Ashworth who is retiring Friday, May 27 after 24-1/2 years with the Town.

The Princeton Board of Commissioners selected and hired Mr. King. He worked for 16 years with the Johnston County Planning Department and most recently worked as the Town of Kenly Planning Director and Parks and Recreation Director.

“First, I would like to give thanks to God for leading me down this path. Also, I am thankful to everyone who made it possible for me to accept this new challenge. I am excited for this new opportunity and look forward to a long career of working with the Town of Princeton, the citizens of Princeton and Johnston County,” Mr. King said.

“I would also like to thank Marla Ashworth for many years of dedicated service to the Town of Princeton and wish her well on her next adventure. I desire to build upon the great leadership she has provided,” Mr. King added.

Ashworth said she will still be involved with the current fiscal year budget, grants, and ongoing projects.

Mr. King is a resident of Princeton and has been married to his wife, Jaime, for 26 years. They have a son, Jaxson, and a daughter and son-in-law, Madison and Eric Casburn, plus two fur babies.
