ERWIN – The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office today (Friday) arrested a 45 year-old woman on three counts of sexual activity by a substitute parent. Authorities said they began an investigation earlier this week after a minor victim’s family came forward reporting sexual contact with the victim by an employee of Cape Fear Christian Academy located in Erwin.
Sheriff Wayne Coats said the investigation revealed digital evidence of contact with the minor and the suspect. Investigators obtained warrants on Tammy Moran, of Cottle Lake Drive, Coats. She was arrested today at her residence then taken before a magistrate and given a $150,000 bond. The investigation is ongoing and further charges are possible.
Authorities confirmed the victim was a student at the school. They would not say if the alleged sexual contact occurred at the school or another location.
We reached out to the school for a comment but have not received a reply. According to their website, Cape Fear Christian Academy started in 1969 and is the oldest private school in Harnett County.
