The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a rash of car break-ins.
Sheriff’s Captain J. Caldwell said over the past couple of weeks 17 reports of cars break-ins have been filed with authorities. Most have been in the Clayton, 40/42 and Archer Lodge areas.
Many have occurred at night and in subdivisions. Also, all 17 vehicles had been left unlocked.
Numerous items have been reported stolen including cash, credit cards, electronics, purses and wallets.
Authorities said it’s important to keep valuables in your car out of sight, and if possible take them inside with you when you leave your car unattended. And do not leave your car unlocked, even if parked in the driveway of your own home.
If you see anything suspicious in your neighborhood, do not hesitate to call 911.
