Red Cross Assisting Family After Smithfield House Fire

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Three people were displaced after a fire damaged a home Monday morning in South Smithfield.

The fire was reported in the 1200 block of South Crescent Street. Firefighters from the Smithfield, Selma and Four Oaks fire departments responded to the scene and brought the blaze under control.

The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

Johnston County EMS remained on standby at the scene. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office.
