Register Of Deeds Presents Ava Gardner Birth Certificate To The Museum

SMITHFIELD – There will be a public presentation from the Johnston County Register of Deeds, Craig Olive, to Lynell Seabold, the Ava Gardner museum Executive Director on Dec. 22nd at 10:00 am. Olive will be presenting the museum with Ava’s restored birth certificate. Ava was born December 24, 1922, and would have been 100-years-old this Christmas Eve.

The certificate has been restored and protectively framed by Kofile Technologies out of Greensboro, NC. Also attending the presentation are Kofile’s Gerald Ward, General Manager and Senior Conservator, and Greg Brooks, Account Executive. Kofile is the nation’s oldest and most experienced firm specializing in the preservation of legal and public records.

“Ava is our treasured, home-county girl, and we wanted to do something special for her to commemorate her 100th birthday,” said Olive, “We are giving the Ava Gardner Museum a copy of the restored birth certificate for them to put on display and to keep.”

The presentation will take place at the Ava Gardner Museum, which will then work the certificate into their collection to preserve her birth certificate for future generations to view.

“The Ava Gardner Museum and the Ava Gardner Trust have plans to host more events, debut additional exhibits, and release new Ava Gardner officially licensed products through the end of this year and well into 2023,” stated Lynell Seabold, Museum Executive Director.

The Ava Gardner Museum is located in Downtown Smithfield, at 325 E. Market Street. For more information, visit avagardner.org, call 919-934-5830, or email avainfo@avagardner.org.
