Rep. Larry Strickland Appointed To School Safety Committee

Representative Larry C. Strickland (R-Johnston) has been appointed to the NC House Select Committee on School Safety.

The committee was created following the Parkland, Florida school shooting that left 17 people dead.

In a statement Rep. Strickland told WTSB News, “I hold this issue close to my heart, and I hope to make an impact on our youth throughout the state of North Carolina.”

“I believe that my eighteen years of experience serving on the Johnston County Board of Education, and chairing this board for eight years, will equip me with the tools I need to play a critical role on this committee. During my time on the Board of Education in Johnston County, we took interactive measures with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety and the Center for Safer Schools to create a safer learning and working environment in our public schools.”

“It is critical that we work on ways to prevent catastrophes such as the Parkland shooting from ever happening again, and I believe that this committee is a step in the right direction,” Strickland said.
